Preferred room and flatmate description
Five bright, good-size bedrooms in a large, clean & pleasant house.
There is also a living room, a kitchen, a shower room with toilet & a bathroom with shower & toilet. There is a fair amount of hallway and landing areas, so the rooms are spread out, giving a reasonable degree of privacy although it doesn't feel like living completely on your own. Based on the living room and kitchen, the house usually has a sociable (but not noisy) atmosphere so only genuine professionals need apply. Three of the bedrooms have wash basins, with these alleviating any pressure on the bath and shower rooms. The house (dated to 1906) has been fully but sympathetically renovated to a high standard and is legally compliant with gas, electrical and fire safety certification.
The decor is in a good state, with all the bedrooms being white-painted, with a light birch (and insulated) laminated flooring. The windows are large, giving lots of light. The other rooms (kitchen, living room etc.) have more colour. To allow easy cleaning, only the stairs and landing are carpeted (to help minimise noise) - and the carpet has just been professionally cleaned; all other areas are either hardwood or tiled, with that in the hallway being the original. Each room has an access point for free and continuous high-speed internet use and a wireless system is also in place.
The rooms available are all good sizes, with a radiator and solid pine furniture comprising bed (with recently purchased mattresses), wardrobe & chair in each. An uplight is also included (in addition to the usual pendant lighting). Despite the furniture and a (non-functional) fireplace, there is still a good deal of space as the shape of each room allows it to be optimised. There are also plenty of power points.
The kitchen is fully-equipped, with gas cooker, microwave, a large fridge, separate chest freezer, allocated storage cupboards, appliances & utensils. There is also a washing machine and a separate dryer, with an ironing board etc. and vacuum cleaner located in a hall cupboard.
The garden is relatively private, being surrounded by a high fence and shaded by a young tree; another may soon be added. It is otherwise a largely paved area (with table & chairs), requiring little or no maintenance. Beyond the private service road to the rear is the county cricket ground and, beyond that, parkland with a running track.
On foot, Tesco is 6 minutes away, the town centre 10 minutes and the railway station 12 minutes. Bus access is convenient and closer and main road access is almost instant.
The bedrooms are all pleasant, each being slightly different; three have basins, one is particularly large etc. There are also a couple of private off-road parking spaces available; if you would like one for your exclusive use, there is a nominal fee of £5 per month. Alternative parking is available close by and permits for on-street parking can be obtained for a nominal fee from the council. Depending upon the room chosen, the rent ranges from £312pcm to £381pcm, with all being inclusive of council tax and utilities (water, electricity & gas).
The house has just been spring-cleaned and areas redecorated. Those living in the house are expected to clean their own rooms and share the cleaning of the communal areas, be this through doing it themselves or sharing in the cost of an external cleaner.
